HI I AM DAVID

About Me

Driven by Results, Powered by Perseverance

I began my career as a field engineer, enjoying the work but craving more. When I applied for a position at Laurens & Nivard IT Services, I had the skills but lacked certifications. Determined to succeed, I dedicated six months to intense study and earned the credentials I needed. It was worth it—I got the job. In 2011, I led my first major project: documenting network components for a mental health institution. By 2012, I was in charge of a €1 million network rebuild for 25 sites. The challenge? Outdated documentation and missing knowledge. I tackled this with structured planning and thorough documentation. The result? A robust, scalable network with zero downtime. This experience solidified my approach: clear methodologies, strategic execution, and persistence. I thrive on turning complex challenges into streamlined solutions. Experience

2016 - Current
Stichting ICTU

Network Engineer

The project focused on migrating server clusters from SaaS to private cloud, redesigning the data center network, and migrating Citrix XenDesktop VDI. It included SSL hardening for HTTPS sites, a network migration from Cisco to Huawei, and ISATAP implementation for Direct Access with load balancing. Additionally, various Citrix NetScaler solutions were deployed, including Office 365, ADFS, and Exchange 2013. The Citrix NetScaler OS was upgraded, and network performance was monitored. Operational management covered Citrix NetScaler, FortiGate firewalls, Huawei firewalls and switches, Cisco routers and switches, and an AeroHive wireless network supporting 525+ clients.

2014 - 2016
DAMEN Shipyards

Network Engineer

As a Network Engineer, responsibilities included designing networks for mid-sized engineering sites in Ukraine and South Africa. Developed a WiFi design using EAP-TLS with NPS for secure access. Managed the remote network migration for the Ukraine site and implemented Office 365 integration with Microsoft ADFS 3.0 on NetScaler for seamless authentication and access management.

2014 - 2016
Ipse de Bruggen

Network Engineer

Redesign of the existing KPN DWDM ring to enhance infrastructure availability. This involved a full rework of the current DWDM ring, with consideration for a migration path across 10 mid-sized locations and 2 data centers.

2011 - 2014
GGZ Rivierduinen

Network Engineer / Technical projectlead

As a Network Engineer and Technical Project Lead, I designed LAN/WAN networks for 25 locations and developed a KPN DWDM ring design for 10 sites and 2 data centers. I created standard firewall and load balancer clusters using Cisco and Citrix technologies. Additionally, I implemented highly available Cisco networks for 10 new healthcare facilities and established a LAN link between Stichting Ipse de Bruggen and GGZ Rivierduinen.

2010 - 2011
GGD Zaanstreek-Waterland

System and Network Administrator

I was responsible for maintaining an infrastructure across 17 locations, managing over 25 server clusters.

2005 - 2010
Mintel Netwerkbeheer

System and Network Administrator (Field Service)

As a System and Network Administrator in the field service, I was responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of small to medium-sized businesses, ranging from a few employees to up to 50 employees for over 30 companies.
